LUDWIG200 - Beethoven to the Stars

With “LUDWIG200 – Beethoven to the Stars”, the Quintessence Saxophone Quintet celebrates the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death with a program that goes far beyond a traditional tribute. This unique concert experience places Beethoven at the center of a musical universe – connecting his work to composers who inspired him and those who followed in his footsteps, from Johann Sebastian Bach to John Williams.

LUDWIG200

Beethoven was not only a revolutionary of his time – he became a reference point for generations of composers. “Beethoven to the Stars” explores this idea through a carefully curated program that creates surprising connections across centuries.

The concert moves between iconic works by Beethoven and music that reflects his influence: the structural clarity of Bach, the dramatic gestures of the Romantic era, and even the cinematic sound worlds of composers like John Williams. In the unmistakable sound of the saxophone quintet, these works are transformed into a vibrant, contemporary listening experience.

Quintessence is known for its innovative arrangements and its ability to translate orchestral and piano repertoire into a new sonic dimension. The ensemble creates a sound that is at once powerful and transparent, combining virtuosity with expressive depth.

“LUDWIG200” also marks a return: more than 25 years after their program “Beethoven Renovated”, the ensemble revisits this composer with a new artistic perspective – more refined, more daring, and more relevant than ever.
