The Quintessence Saxophone Quintet
In many countries and on countless stages around the world, Quintessence Saxophone Quintet has brought audiences to thunderous applause. The world-class musicians expand on classical music, hearing it anew through the ears of the present. Introducing elements of improvised music and jazz, the ensemble takes it to a completely new and magnificent level. Its virtuosity, unique sound, energetic playing and unmistakable stage presence have not only filled thirteen albums and multiple video recordings but are, above all, the reason for its outstanding live success from America to Asia: In the thirty years of the band's history, the quintet has become one of the most successful saxophone ensembles ever. Indeed there is, as a matter of fact, no other performing saxophone quintet worldwide.
After its highly successful programmes on Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, among others, the ensemble is daring to build another musical bridge and will present its new masterpiece in 2024: “A Cinematic Suite”. The program includes classics by John Williams and Ennio Morricone but also a few less prominent gems from film music history, newly arranged in the incomparable Quintessence style and thus freshly enlivened into a cinematic journey full of emotions and adventure.
The musicians Uli Lettermann (soprano saxophone, arrangement), Jonas Buschsieweke (alto saxophone), Thorsten Floth (tenor saxophone), Roland Danyi (tenor saxophone) and Anatole Gomersall (baritone saxophone) form a virtuoso ensemble that moves beyond the well-trodden paths of chamber music and jazz. Its passion for music and the saxophone make every concert an unforgettable experience. In vielen Ländern und auf unzähligen Bühnen der Welt hat Quintessence Saxophone Quintet sein Publikum zu Beifallsstürmen hingerissen. Die Weltklassemusiker erweitern klassische Musik um eine ganz neue und großartige Dimension, durch die Ohren der Gegenwart neu gehört und mit Elementen des Jazz gewendet.
